Several Volunteers are engaged to do the training and receive a small compensation via travel costs reimbursement each month.
Our Work in Uganda
At the end of 2019, our work had reached six schools, six prisons across several villages, churches and community based organisations.
Future plans include the expansion of ‘informal’ training that occurs in ‘open’ spaces under tents pitched for this purpose. We go where we are needed and case in point is bus/taxi/motorcycle terminuses.
Our Reproductive Health and Life Skills Training follows the Wise Choices for Life methodologies and approach LINK TO “OUR TRAINING” and focuses on two streams:
• Protection and Prevention of early teenage pregnancy, obstetric fistula, HIV, maternal deaths by working in schools, universities, villages and churches where youth congregate.
• Reformation and Rehabilitation in prisons, youth remand homes and informal gatherings like motor cycle/taxi/bus terminuses to shift thinking and behaviours towards women and children.
Our Impact in Uganda
Our Operational Team has needed to expand as we were invited to run our training in 6 schools and 6 prisons. In 2019 alone we added 13 new Trainers.
Our impact across 2018/2019 was significant as we reached 2,653 people in total. 2005 were young people (996 boys and 2009 girls) and 648 were adults (165 men and 492 women).
We struggle to keep up with the demand and requests for training that we receive from churches, villages and community-based organisations who are desperate for the knowledge.
